Thanksgiving

<

Sorry it’s been so long! As it’s getting closer and closer to the end of the semester, I’m getting more and more busy. I’m home right now for Thanksgiving vacation. I had classes on Wednesday (Boo) and a lot of people didn’t even go, so it sort of was almost pointless. They were easy, though, so it wasn’t too big of a deal. My mom came Tuesday night and we brought Greg out to dinner because Wednesday was his birthday. Devon, Greg, Adam, my mom and I all went to Mixto. It’s a Cuban restaurant on Pine Street and let me tell you it is DELICIOUS. If you’re in the mood for some Cuban at a pretty decent price, Mixto is the way to go. Their calamari was the best.  After, I went to Borders with my mom and then went with a group of people to Cap Giro which has AWESOME gelato. All of the flavors are awesome and they have different flavors everyday. Then we went back to my apartment and watched Hairspray. Anyway, I had Movement at 8:30 on Wednesday so I decided it would be better if I stayed up the entire night, take a shower and go to class. This is a bad idea. Never do this…Ever. I stayed up until 6:30 and was about to take a shower, but of course fell asleep. My friend, Liz, called me at 8:20 to remind me to go to class (I set about 6 alarms. I’m a really heavy sleeper.) I got dressed and ran to class. I was early even, but ridiculously tired. The rest of the day I sort of slogged through not retaining anything that was happening. At 3, I went back to my apartment, packed up a few last minute things and we left to drive back to Syracuse. Too bad it took us 2 hours to drive 15  miles. I stopped at my Aunt Rainy’s and Uncle Bob’s in Binghamton and I didn’t get home until about 12:30. I pretty much went right to bed when I got home.

The next day I didn’t wake up until 1 and my mom was freaking out because we were really supposed to be at my grandma’s my 1. So I got ready quickly and we drove over to my Grandma’s. My family is crazy, I won’t get into Thanksgiving. A good crazy of course, but definitely crazy. So, I was happy to see everyone and after I went to John Nara’s and hung out there for a while. I went home and Nicole and I decided to have a model photo shoot. Don’t worry, those pictures will be posted.

The next day, I again woke up late. This time at 2. I got ready for the day, my friend Kristen and her boyfriend James came over and we just got caught up on life and then watched an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? I had to go though, because I was seeing Footloose at one of local community theaters. It was really good and I knew a lot of people in it so I was really happy to see all of them. I feel weird not doing a show right now. I’m so used to do shows back to back when I was in high school now I’m just doing school. I mean, I’m still doing theater stuff so it’s not unbearable, but I’d love to be working on a show and going to rehearsals. I have auditions on Tuesday. I was going to audition for the musical, but now I’m debating on just doing two monologues because I’d probably have a better chance getting into one of the plays. I’m not really decided yet. Anyway, after some of the cast went out to Applebee’s and it was fun. I’m remembering that I don’t like applebee’s again though. We always used to go there after shows and the food isn’t even that good there. After, Jon came home with me and we stayed up most of the night talking and didn’t go to bed until 4.

So, he just left and I realized I can’t find my cell phone. I’m pretty sure I left it at Applebee’s last night, so hopefully I can find that! I called the place a little while ago and I have to call back in a few minutes

I’ll let everyone know if I find my cell phone or not, I’d hate to have to get a new phone already.

Another week has gone by. Time really flies in college. I’ve picked a monologue for acting studio and picked a song to sing for the Into the Woods auditions that happen the week after Thanksgiving. I’m more worried about my monologue since I’ll really be auditioning for the plays rather than the musicals because Into the Woods is the ONLY musical next semester, therefore freshmen acting majors probably won’t be really looked at for the musical. I just want to have a good audition.
Last week I went to a master class with Billy Porter. It was really good. I love just being able to be so close to talented people and see how their minds work. I talked to someone I met through the Drowsy Chaperone National Tour a few days ago and since he’s going to be in Philadelphia he asked for UArts’ head of theater department to see if he can do a master class here, too. I think that would be really exciting. Anyway, I’ll keep you updated.
Friends came up this weekend. MiKayla and Alexia came up Friday night and we had a lot of fun. It’s nice to see people from home. We out to dinner and they met all of our friends. MiKayla is looking at UArts next year for musical theatre, too. Here’s pictures from this weekend.

Last night I stayed up way too late doing homework. I didn’t go to sleep until 6AM and woke up at 9AM for acting studio. I’ve been exhausted all day, but that’s okay. I’ve got a lot more homework to work on and then hopefully I can go to bed early. I don’t have class until 1 tomorrow so that will help me catch up on my sleep. Anyway, I have to do an essay or two and catch up on some homework, then I am going to bed.

By the way, it was nice talking to some of you in the UArts chat. I hope that helped answer your questions, but feel free to email me or leave me comments on my journal if you’re looking to come here next year and have questions about it or just go to the next theater chat for UArts in January!

Sorry, I’ve been really busy lately. Halloween came and past. I’ll post some pictures so you can see what our costumes looked like. Jon came up 2 weekends ago and we had a lot of fun. I was really happy he was here because even though it hasn’t been that long I did miss him a lot. Devon, Jon and I all dressed up in Strawberry Shortcake like outfits and had a lot of fun. Actual Halloween Dev and I just rented DVDs from a little video store down the street. We watched The Craft, 28 Days Later, and Dead Alive. Let me just tell you Dead Alive was one of the weirdest movies I’ve ever seen. The rest of the week went by fast.
Thursday I had the UArts Perspective Online Chats. If you guys haven’t gone on that, make sure you do that. It’s a little hectic, but there’s counselors and students that will talk to you if you have questions. Especially if you’re a theater major, there’s a chat in two Thursdays.

Friday I went home for the weekend and Devon went to Buffalo to see her boyfriend. By weekend I mean I got home at 10 o’clock at night, woke up early, ran around all day, and left Sunday morning. There was problems with the train, too so it ended up costing $200 even though we thought it would be $94. I almost wish I hadn’t gone home, especially since I’ll be home in 2 and a half weeks. I was happy to see everyone, don’t get me wrong, it just was so much money.
It’s funny how quickly the time is going by. In two and a half weeks, it’s Thanksgiving break, then a few weeks after that it’s already Christmas break which means being home for over a month and my first semester of college will be OVER! Crazy.

I suppose I have a lot of work to do and should get back to it.

In case you  guys didn’t notice, Adam bleached  his hair. Fortunately, he’s already died his hair back to brown.
